Some Essential Tips for your Piano Maintenance

Piano lovers like to enjoy playing pianos for many years to come. If you want your piano produces a beautiful soothing sound, it will need to be cared for. Regular and dedicated piano care is important to maintain the tune of your piano.

Upright Piano maintenance helps you play more incredibly and will help take care of your musical instrument, ensuring its beautiful shape for upcoming years.

As part of piano care, a few tips and tricks should be followed to maintain it in good shape. With proper care, you can keep your instrument in top-notch condition, no matter how many years you used it.

Clean your piano Keys

Dust and dirt are deposited on your keys faster than you think. You can clean your piano keys with a piece of cotton cloth. For plastic-made keys, it is good to use a blend of water with white vinegar. Ivory keys can be cleaned more precisely with a solution of warm water and a bit of dish soap.

A few things must be avoided while cleaning, whether the keys are made of plastic or ivory. Always avoid the use of toxic and harsh chemical compounds. Instead, choose mild soaps. Also, don’t use a paper towel while wiping keys. Always use fleece-free clothes to avoid residues. Wipe down your piano keys vertically, thereby avoiding any dampness getting between your keys.

Temperature and Humidity Level

The basic thing to keep in mind is maintaining a constant temperature where you keep your instrument. Pianos are designed with a wooden material, which can swell and shrink depending on how hot or cold it is. Maintaining this constant, neutral temperature can make the piano very different. These changes in the musical instrument that occur during various temperatures will cause severe issues and needs expensive repairs.

Apart from temperature, you must maintain a constant humidity level where your musical instrument is placed. With more humidity, the wooden material of the piano will swell, and the glue on some parts will loosen. This can lead your instrument into bad condition. To avoid this, you must maintain the humidity level between 40% to 50 %.

Keep your Piano Tuned

Regular piano maintenance focuses on tuning your piano twice a year, or, better yet, every time the season varies. Think summer, fall, spring, and winter, making for an easy way to remember when it’s time to tune your piano. This will keep your instrument at the right pitch, no matter the time of year.

Pianos are made up of many moving components and have a sophisticated design. Tune your piano with the help of professional piano technicians. With this, it will be brought to the right pitch, and they can perform any other essential piano repair and cleaning actions for perfect practice.
